With entirely new recommendations updated for 2001, the CADD and the Small Firm seminar, on Wednesday November 14 th, at BuildBoston2001 seminar B43, from 3 pm to 5 pm, Prof. Langdon will aprise us of strategic atvantages of appropriate CADD for small design firms.


The CD --- Architectural CADD : A Resource Guide - 7/01b - beta

The CD is a preliminary version of Prof. Langdon's upcoming book, called Architectural CADD : A Resource Guide, in electronic form. It consists of 458 pages in a primary Adobe Acrobat pdf file, another 100 or so pages in supplemental files, and another 3,800 pages of information in hypertext web files. It also includes many examples of CADD projects, renderings and animations, student assignments, all the images submitted for 5 years of the Designers 3D CADD Shootout competition, and much more.

The Speaker

Prof. Langdon is a registered architect and is the principal of Architectural CADD Consultants, a firm that specializes in helping architectural firms with computing and CADD. He has taught Design, Solar Energy, and Architectural CADD at a number of colleges in the Boston area, and is now full time at Suffolk University. He is the author of Architectural CADD: A Resource Guide to Design and Production Software Appropriate for Architects, a guest speaker at many AIA events, and the founder and organizer of the Designers 3D CAD Challenge competition. He is a writer of a column for Cadence magazine called AEC Tech News online, and an internet entrepreneur establishing online tutorials at www.CADD.bigstep.com. He has been an active chairman of five different groups within the Boston Society of Architects, including the BSA Committee on Design Software, and was the developer of the first architects online network in the 1970's (which underwent many changes over the years, ultimately becoming www.architects.org and many other web resources).
