Prof. Langdon is a registered architect and is the principal of Architectural CADD Consultants, a firm that specializes in helping architectural firms with computing and CADD. He has been a professor of Design, Solar Energy, Resource Conscious Design, and Architectural CADD at a number of colleges in the Boston area. He is the author of "Architectural CADD: A Resource Guide to Design and Production Software Appropriate for Architects", "CADD and the Small Firm" with Evan Shu, "ArchiCAD for AutoCAD Users" with Ralph Grabowski, and a number of other publications. He is the founder and organizer of the international Designers 3D CAD Challenge competition and a guest speaker at many AIA events.
He is currently creating a number of dynamic virtual reality scenes
and architectural walk-through animations of several different communities.
These are used not only for visualization and marketing, but also for settling
land use disputes, perform sun shadow studies, energy analysis, and to
facilitate community involvement. Additionally, he assists architects
in creating resource sustainable projects that can be LEED certified and
energy conscious using both passive and active solar energy technologies.
He has been a writer for a column for Cadence magazine called AEC Tech
News online, and an internet entrepreneur establishing online tutorials
at www.caddtutorialsonline.com. He has been an active chairman of five
different groups within the Boston Society of Architects, including the
BSA Committee on Design Software, and was the developer of the first architects
online network in the 1970's - which underwent many changes over the years,
ultimately becoming www.architects.org and many other web resources - for
which he was nominated as an FAIA candidate.
