Mount Ida College - Chamberlayne School of Design
Advanced CADD Spring 2001 Project
Objectives for this Unusual Project :
The students will demonstrate their knowledge of advanced CADD concepts and custom interior design detailing, by doing an intensive semester long project requiring each student to do custom design of a unique place, and documenting that design via 3D CADD design modeling, 2D CADD construction documents, perspectives, and animation walk-throughs. They will also demonstrate their knowledge of CADD office management concepts through quizzes based on the reading. The instructor will give presentations on advanced CADD techniques and help the students individually develop their project.
Required end product :
1.) A web site with at least four views of each of the seven required spaces and each of the seven detailed objects, all clearly labeled, opening to the house banner designed by the student
2.) A walk through animation of the project
3.) The 3D CADD files used to create the images
Tools :
ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, PhotoShop, Page Composer

3.) Each week there will be a quiz on the reading concerning CADD technology, CADD office management, and techniques.
4.) Each student shall develop a custom design for the spaces and detail items - they should design it inspired by the theme of the house to which they will be assigned
5.) Each student shall also develop one particular common space in a team with the other members of their assigned house - these are larger spaces which will be shared by all the students
6.) The final animation walk-throughs developed by each student should include views of each of the spaces they developed - with the required detail objects included - and include views of the common areas developed by the student teams
7.) Each of the students in the class shall be sorted into one of the four Houses in the first weeks of the semester - their House will be theme to which they are required to design their spaces and objects - they may design other spaces or objects to other themes for extra credit
