<<< "So what's going on up there in Massachussets the rest of us don't know about?" -- Nick Pyner, Dee Why Beach NSW >>>

Well, as a matter of fact. Quite a bit is going to be happening the third week of October, as I am hosting the DBUG meeting at my home - the house called Roseledge - in Beverly Farms, on the north shore of Boston, for the first (and probably only) time.

While our fiends DownUnder are busy with the America's Cup races underway, the house formerly belonging to an America's Cup magnate (who lost, which is how we are lucky enough to live here now), will become the information resource on DataCAD for a full day of tutorials in addition to the DataCAD DBUG meeting. The tentative date right now is Wednesday, October 20th, but watch your mail for the confirmation and full information. [ Note : now 10/27/99 ]

The meeting from 6 - 9 will include stuff for beginners as well as experts - using 3D for 2D productivity elevations and sections, dealing with DXF/ DWG file transfers to/from ACAD, solar energy software, and a look at where ACAD is now (get out those DCAD wishlists). The reason the solar stuff is in there, other than just looking at more interesting things to do with DataCAD, DH Shadows, etc., and other than the fact that it is my actual area of expertice as a solar engineer, is that it makes the DBUG meeting qualify for those elusive HSW (Health/Safety/Wellfare) category of required AIA CEU credits.

For those who can come earlier, from 10am - 6pm we are offering seminar classes in (1-3p) Beginning 3D Modeling in DataCAD, (10a-12p) AutoCAD for those who Know DataCAD, 3-5p Advanced 3D Modeling, and (12-p) Web Page Creation, all oriented to DataCAD users. You may also want to come earlier to check out this amazing community (house tours 5-6p) and beach, with views of the islands and Marblehead.

The October DBUG meeting will also introduce the brand new series of DataCAD tutorial videotapes and CDs based on DataCAD 8.50 and VisualReality, which are currently in production.

With Halloween just a few days later, you may want to drive through Salem on the way and see the "Haunted Happenings" festival. Reverend Hale and many others involved in that controversial incident 307 years ago lived just a little way down our street (Hale St.) in Witch's Woods. Speaking of strange happenings - as a warning to you - while cell phones do work in Beverly (as they do everywhere else in New England) they will not work in Beverly Farms.
