VectorWorks is a international Object-Based CAD program that is being used effectively by architectural firms, design/builders, interior design/architecture, and landscape architecture firms ranging from 1 to 100 people in over 80 countries.
VectorWorks' stands alone in the CAD marketplace. First, it is the only cross-platform, mid-priced CAD program. In addition, It is unique in it's philosophy to provide designers powerful, yet-easy-to use Computer Aided Design sofware--software that can be operated by design professionals rather than professional CAD operators, and priced within the means of even the smallest design firm. Lastely, VectorWorks unique in it can be completely customizable. Using VectorScript, VectorWorks' built-in scripting language novice users can automate routine or tedious drafting tasks and developers can use it as a platform to build custom commercial applications.
In the Shootout we are using only one "main" software package, VectorWorks 8.0.1, with its RenderWorks photorealistic rendering
The VectorWorks Team
Robert Anderson, AIA, team captain and coordinator, is a registered architect who is Director of Content Applications at Diehl Graphsoft, Incorporated in Columbia, MD. Robert has been a registered architect in the state of Texas since 1979 and has been involved with architectural CAD (using proprietary CAD software as well as AutoCAD and Cadvance) since 1981. He has used MiniCad/VectorWorks since 1986.
Francois Levy, is a principal in Studio Mosaic, an Austin, TX architectural firm. Francois also teaches at the University of Texas School of Architecture.
