Digital Print Room
Digital Print Room v10 is Web-based software for accessing and distributing engineering documents: delivery, cataloging, and printing of drawings, documents, and images. The software allows you to produce and store fully rendered plots and plot sets from MicroStation, AutoCAD, and raster formats. The plots are accessed using a Web browser, viewed online, and printed in full detail to a large- and small-format printers.
The print room administrator can create and delete archives, modify and expand plot attributes, and move plots from one archive to another. Digital Print Room can be interfaced with other applications, such as EDMS (electronic document management system), and customized for workflows and corporate standards. http://www.intergraph.com
Auto Manager View v3.1 features include AutoCAD 2000 DWG format viewing and powerful viewing of external references and Mechanical Desktop product structures. Cyco has licensed Autodesk's ObjectDBX viewing technology that will allow for extended support for viewing of AutoCAD 2000 designs. http://www.cyco.com
Dr. DWG LiteView v5.5
LiteView v5.5 (US$129) calls itself "probably the fastest AutoCAD 2000 Viewer available today," and lets you view, redline, annotate, and print AutoCAD drawings -- along with 50 other file formats.
LiteView v5.5 supports DWG and DXF 2000, R13, R13, and R12; lineweights for display and printing; R14 proxy graphics; hybrid DWG (embedded images); enhanced BHatch support; and supports multiple layouts. In addition to viewing and layer manipulation, Liteview does hyperlinking, batch printing, dynamic viewing, and watermarking. A fully functional 30-day trial version is available free at http://www.drdwg.com

The Arnona Java CADviewer is a great example of a reader I would use in our Mac practice. CADviewer is a java based file viewer supporting dwf and svf format at http://www.cadviewer.com/ two versions are available light and pro. The light viewer is free, supports dwf and view zooming and levels. The pro version adds svf support and redline functions. It is expensive for small offices; definitely NOT free! ArchiCAD LT it's not but it does have functions I would use beyond a PDF file. It's the only option I have found that supports Mac, unix and wintel. Cyco
AutoManager WorkFlow v6.11 and AutoManager View v3.11 now support AutoCAD Mechanical 2000, Mechanical Desktop 4, LT 2000, and GTX RasterCAD 6.0.
Other improvements include support for clipped xrefs, ObjectDBX viewing, and non-rectangular viewports.
Cyco Software has opened a local sales office in London, Canada, which follows the company's expansion into Sweden. Address is 151 York Street, Suite 14, London, Ontario N6A 1A4. Phone (519) 433 7694 or fax (519) 433-7521

Terrific Graphics Viewer
There is a graphics viewer which I am particularly fond of, Firehand Ember. In addition to being a graphics viewer, it allows you (with the purchase of an addin - Presentation Xtension) to make self executing presentations (slide shows) which you can easily email. I haven't purchased it, but their Lightning addin allows you to add audio to your presentations, so you can comment on the slide show or add music. It also has some basic editing tools. It is set up with two windows. The first is an Explorer window showing drives, directories, folders etc. on the left.
The second is a window for the thumbnails. You can set the size of the thumbnails, spacing between them, sort by date or name or filter by name. It also has a slide show feature with an adjustable rate. Best of all, you can drag thumbnail(s) from the display window to any folder in the Explorer window, and they will be moved, even across drives or a network. No more cutting and pasting. It also detects file name conflicts and exact matches and will compare the two files, giving you an opportunity to rename. If you choose to cancel the move or overwrite it asks if you want to use the same rule for subsequent conflicts. A very well thought out program, complete with keyboard shortcuts. It handles transfers of very large numbers of files, in excess of 100 MB, without a hitch. And it is FAST, FAST, FAST. It does it all on the fly, no thumbnail files clogging up your hard drive.
It also does contact sheets. It is one of my indispensable tools. It doesn't replace Picaview but it is terrific at managing and viewing large numbers of graphics files. $35, Lifetime upgrades. Check it out!

Subject: file viewer
regarding the viewer, there is a free utility created by Ove Arup (you know, the structural eng. of Foster, Piano and other starchitects...) for file and project administration (it's called columbus), including file viewing of ACAD and Triforma, as well as word, excel, etc. I understand they are just waiting for an utility for ArchiCAD to usit it with the system too. So, it would be nice to have this kind of stuff!

The one I referred to for everyone's information was Canto's Cumulus.
Cumulus 5 Single User Edition
Single User Version for MacOS and Windows 95/98/NT
Normally - $99.95
Special Price - $49.95
Your ArchiCAD installer CD comes with Cumulus filters to add to the Filters folder inside of Cumulus. It will catalog .pln, .mod, .pmk, .lay, .gsm, .win, .dor, etc., etc., etc...
Try a demo before you buy it. I believe it will catalog up to ten files in demo mode. See if it is what you want!

Subject: Viewing and Redlining Autocad DWG, DGN and PDF drawings on your website
How you might web enable CAD files on your website without requiring a download or plug-in by the client. Autodesk recommends our Vizit and CADViewer product as the "only true thin client (no plug-in required) Java Viewer for DWF", and now we have extended our functionality to handle DWG, DXF, DGN, PDF, HPGL and other formats on-the-fly. Your website project can now allow your users to post drawings, redline and markup drawings with text or graphic comments, using only a browser. Because the native drawing is not passed to the user, the source files remain secure. We also have Solaris, Linux, and AIX platform support as well as NT, and a complete API allows the System Administrator to enable or disable all functionality, and independently develop the look and feel of the position, location, size and feature set of the viewer. We also provide language support for Spanish, German, French, and Swedish Look at our DWG/DXF files with a browser, or place your own files on our demo at = http://demo.zoomon.com/utxdemo/index.cfm?fuseaction=entrance
