Subject: [adv] The Object Club : over 10,000 GDL objects!

WELCOME TO THE OBJECT CLUB

http://www.objectclub.com

The Object Club is a new service from Objects Online that offers members unlimited access to the thousands of GDL objects that are sold with ArchiCAD around the world. There are currently over 10,000 GDL objects in the Object Club e-catalog.

Want to check that your current library is complete? Looking for a special object from another country that may not be delivered with your ArchiCAD standard library? Join the Object Club to open the (virtual, of course) door to Graphisoft's huge collection of 3D parametric objects.

In addition to the ArchiCAD standard libraries, the Object Club will offer exclusive Object Club objects in the near future as well as other member services.

You don't have to be a member to take a look at all of the available objects. Just download and install Graphisoft's free GDL Web Plug-in to browse the object libraries. The GDL Web Plug-in can be downloaded for both Macintosh and Windows systems from the Object Club site.

The libraries appear in their local language and are organized as they are delivered in their local markets. A multi-lingual search function will be added soon to facilitate finding objects from other countries. Current search functions work within each library.

You must be an Object Club member to download objects and access other Club services. Membership in the Object Club is easy and a great value! Join the Club to activate your service and join the growing community of object users with direct unlimited access to ArchiCAD GDL objects from around the world!

A non-refundable membership fee of $30 will be charged quarterly, or you may elect the annual subscription for $100. Your membership can be canceled at any time, effective the quarter after your notice of cancellation.

AutoCAD R14 and 2000 users can now also take advantage of the power of GDL objects by using Graphisoft's Object Adapter. Available for electronic purchase and download, the Object Adapter is offered for an introductory price of $149.00 (normal retail will be $195.00). Included with the purchase of the Object Adapter is a sample library of 100 GDL objects as well as help and installation files. You'll find the description for this exciting new product in the Object Adapter section at http://www.objectclub.com.

The Object Club is offering a free additional month of service to all members who join in December! Sign up today at http://www.objectclub.com.

If you have questions, please contact us at objectclub@objectsonline.com. All the best, David Correia, Objects Online, Inc.

The Object Club at http://www.objectclub.com, offers members (at US$100/year) access to 10,000 3D parametric GDL objects for ArchiCAD and AutoCAD. AutoCAD R14 and 2000 users must purchase Graphisoft's Object Adapter for US$149.

PIRS On-Line = http://biz.rtd.com/insa/files/

Note the site asks for a one time fee of $15 US to access the site, but it's on an honor system. I think that most people will agree that you'll recover your $15 pretty quick. For some reason the PIRS site insists on trying to display the selected file to download. What you get is a listing of the actual DWG file... hardly usable. If this is the case, STOP the display and go back and WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE SHIFT KEY double click the file to download. (using netscape). This will force the download to happen using a "save as" formatted dialog box.

Mycad Library = http://www.mycadlibrary.com.au

Provides a free sample download of furniture, landscape, transport, and structural members found in the library. Thumbnails to view all drawings.

Cardiff Consultants has released CADsymbols Library CS01, a series of 3D model libraries in DWG format for architectural CAD. Cardiff is producing 3D models in other file formats for ArchiCAD, ArchiTECH PC, AutoCAD, DataCAD, IntelliCAD, 3D Studio VIZ, and VectorWorks. http://www.CADsymbols.com

3D SYMBOL LIBRARIES FOR ARCHITECTURAL CAD SOFTWARE

By Cardiff Consultants, Limited

CADsymbolsT Introduces the Viking Product Line of Appliances in .DWG Format

New York, NY (Sept. 18, 2000) - Cardiff Consultants, Limited, is pleased to announce the release of CADsymbolsT Library CS01, the fIrst in its series of 3D model libraries in .dwg format designed for use with architectural CAD software. Models in this library are constructed of 3dfaces with normals facing outwards, ready for the assignment of materials by layer or by individual 3dface.

Due to the interest expressed in its ChiefSymbolsT libraries for Chief Architect® by users of other CAD applications, Cardiff has embarked upon a major program to produce 3D models in other file formats for users of such products as ArchiCAD, ArchiTECH PC, AutoCAD, DataCAD, IntelliCAD, 3D Studio VIZ, and VectorWorks. The symbols comprising CADsymbolsT Library CS01 are constructed of 3dfaces with normals facing outwards, ready for the assignment of materials by layer or by individual 3dface, and can easily be opened or imported into any program capable of working with 3D v14 .dwg files.

CADsymbolsT Library CS01 contains 150 symbols of products from the Viking Range Corporation product line. This is the first time that the Viking product line has been made available to users of any CAD application. Products in the library include all the gas ranges, dual-fuel ranges, and gas rangetops; all refrigeration products; all gas and electric wall ovens, including electric warming drawers and micro-chambers; the trash compactor; the dishwasher; and exhaust hoods.

CADsymbolsT library CS01 boosts productivity by allowing users to design what they want without time-wasting workarounds and permits creation of the realistic 3D environments and images needed for professional work product in today's competitive and technologically advanced environment.

Subject: Washer & dryer symbol

I sent a drawing of my washer and dryer symbols to the Forum member who asked for them. My symbols show lids, doors, and control knobs to make the units look like what they are in plan view. I would find it hard to believe that anyone drawing up houses all of the time would not already have such symbols they are happy with, if anyone else wants a copy of the symbols I use, e-mail me privately and I will send my symbols along as a DCAD drawing attachment. Subject: Washing machine/ Dryer template

> Looking for a 3d (perferred) or 2d template for a washing machine and dryer. Looked through CTW Vol 1&2 but didn't see anything, did I miss it? Or is there one out there some one could zing my way.

If you are using DataCAD 8.5 or 9 you already have one if you installed the casework templates. Check the Apl_pfix template. It has ref., ranges, ovens and a washer & dryer in 3D!

Subject: Restaurant Tables & Chairs

Have a look at http://www.fritzhansen.com for examples of the fabulous 'super eliptical' tables: a shape designed by the Danish polymath Piet Hein. A 'super eliptical' table is said to be the most space efficient in restaurants. Looks good and is safe to boot: no sharp corners for staff or customers to bump

Delvin Forests = http://visualparadox.com/3d-models/index.htm

This CD contains the geometry for 500 unique 3D Trees. The models are spread evenly across four of the popular 3D file formats (cob/trueSpace, dxf/Autocad, lwo/Lightwave, obj/Wavefront). All of the models contain fewer than 64,000 polygons (important for useability in some software packages). Additionally, some software such as Bryce and trueSpace support all of the file formats on the disc.

Since there are dozens of online sources for symbols, and literally thousands of companies with symbol libraries for sale or distribution on CD, any listing is fraught with the "why weren't we listed" danger. I and a cadre of others volunteer our time to keep track of these symbol libraries on an ongoing basis for the Boston Society of Architects Committee on Design Software here at http://www.architecturalcadd.com/bsa/symbollibraries.htm.
