> Do Piranesi and Artlantis do the same job? What is the difference?
No, Piranesi is 3D Paint software.
It's like Photoshop (paint), but you work in 3D on your real CAD model.
Imagine putting your cut-outs (scanned photoes of people, trees, cars...) directly in real space, cast shadows from it on create reflection on it on shiny floors....
Finaly, when you get photorelistic image (this is only similarity with ArtLantis), customize your brush or bucklet and make your rendering look frendly and handmade.
It IS actually handmade, 'cause you apply brush effect only over surfaces you passed over with brush and with intensity that is determined by pencil pressure on drawing table or by superimposing mouse moves. http://www.informatix.co.uk/pir_gallery.htm Go and try to believe that it is computer made.
ArchiCAD 6.x and ArtLantis 3.51 have direct export to Piranesi. You can
make photorealistic renderings in them and refine it in Piranesi. Best Regards
