The city of Beverly has no meeting place large enough for many of the functions it needs to hold, and ends up having to hold them in the Danversport Yacht Club. Funding from State and Federal sources requires that a public resource building must be built on this site (where some condemned buildings are currently awaiting demolition). Though the design problem for the Designers 3D CAD Shootout is to be considered an academic hypothetical problem, this site is ideal for the design criteria. It allows the teams to design their building with a number of possible themes or styles - lighthouse, boating, sailing, New England clapboard, Salem witch house style, or a futuristic beacon for Beverly's upcoming 400th anniversary.
